Baselayer pants made from merino wool or synthetic blends are ideal for cold conditions as they insulate while wicking away moisture. Merino wool also has natural odor-resistant properties and is particularly suitable for long periods of use.

For layering, base layer pants are ideal as a first layer, followed by insulating pants such as fleece or combat pants. In extreme conditions, wind, cold and wet weather protection pants can be worn over them to provide optimal protection and warmth.
